COURSE COPY
One of the nice features of Blackboard
is the ability to copy all or part of
a course into another course shell. This
is especially helpful if you teach the
same course more than once a year, in
succeeding years, multiple times in a
semester or want to re-use learning materials
in more than one place.
Before beginning, go to your new course
shell (the destination course), enter
it and copy the ID for that course. It
will contain:
- Course identifier and number (such
as BIO100)
- Year and semester (for example 064
is 2006, semester 4)
- Course reference number (the unique
number given to each course each semester)
It should look like this: BIOXXX-064
-12345
With that number written down, you are
ready to continue. Go to your "source
course" or the course that has
the material you want to copy.
Enter the control panel and look at
Course Options. You will find an option
called course copy.
Click on course copy, "copy course
materials into an existing course".
Enter the course ID you copied from
your destination course into the box
(or if you want to browse to find it
that is also an option).
Next you can choose which materials
you want to forward to the new course.
Select the areas and items. Do not select “enrollments” or
your class list will move to the new
class!
When you have selected what needs to
be copied, select submit. You will see
a screen that confirms that your request
has been received and is in queue to
be copied. When it has copied everything
you will receive another email as final
confirmation.
We recommend that you check the destination
course to be sure that everything copied
successfully.
What a great way to make
your life easier and save time!
