Notes
and News
Hello everyone,
Welcome
to the March Issue of Teaching Central.
We have our usual compendium of articles,
book reviews and tips for you.
For example,
we have an article Focus
on Learning by Denise Webster.
This is the first in a continuing
series of articles that will provide
topics, thoughts, and directions
on how to encourage and promote a
student learning culture.
The book review
this month is a look
at First Order Principles for College
Teachers. It offers ten basic ways
to improve the teaching process and brings
academic time management to a new level.
Don’t forget to check out this
month's Teaching Tip on BlackBoard's Course
Copy feature. You can also try this
link to an article on effective teaching
from FaCIT’s website "Behaviors
Associated with Effective Teaching".
The upcoming First Friday event
is on April 7, 2006. The topic is important
to all pre-tenure faculty: Achieving
Tenure. Come to share your stories
about achieving that milestone or to
learn what others have done and what
they recommend.
It's starting to look like spring
and I'm looking forward to longer
daylight hours but I'm also looking
forward to fall and the Lilly North
Conference. An amazing lineup of
keynote speakers is set and there are
even some stipends available to attend
the conference (email
Todd Zakrajsek if
you are interested) Check out the Lilly
North website and also think about presenting
at the conference. The Call
for Proposals is open until April 12, 2006.
Until next time,
Ireta
