Spring Teaching Conference at CMU

The 2008 Conference on Teaching, Learning and Civic Engagement will be held Sunday, May 18 - Tuesday, May 20 at the Comfort Inn & Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

The overall conference theme this year is “Engaging the Learner.”  This theme is designed to take into consideration that the best way to learn is to be engaged in the learning process.  The conference is designed for educators concerned about creating the best possible learning environments for students.  There is a great deal of evidence and experience related to student learning, and this event is designed to bring individuals together to learn from one another. Come learn about active learning strategies that work. Find ways to make a lecture-based course more fun and educational. Learn how to engage adult learners and traditionally-aged students in both face-to-face and hybrid courses. Create meaningful research experiences that include students. Identify effective methods to use volunteer activities in your course. See model service-learning projects that really work. Experience the energy of bringing together enthusiastic educators.  This year's plenary speakers include Sheri Beattie, David Daniel, Terry Doyle, and Todd Zakrajsek.
