Modify the My Courses List
By Ireta Ekstrom, PhD., CMU Instructional Developer

Most faculty who have been at CMU longer than one semester have multiple items on their My Courses list that are not needed in the current semester. One has to scroll down the list to try to find this semester’s courses in the maze of numbers and titles. We do have an easy-to-do solution for this problem.

On your “My Bb Home” page click the small pencil icon that appears in the upper right hand corner of the box. A long list of courses appears. On that list are all of the courses you are teaching enrolled with a series of options for display (Course Name, ID, Instructors, Announcements, Tasks and Calendar Events). Some of those boxes will have checkmarks in them. Uncheck all boxes for courses that you do not wish to see right now. Click Submit at the bottom of the page and OK on the next screen. You should have an appreciably shorter list.

Hint: Check the Course Identifiers carefully. Many courses have names that are nearly identical.

Note: This does NOT change anything on the Blackboard system – you are only hiding the courses, not removing them. You can return any courses to their place on the My Courses page until they are purged from the system. So if you find that you have unchecked a course that you need, just return to the Modify Courses page and re-check the needed boxes.

Additional note: This also works for students.
