The summer is moving along – complete with picnics, sitting on the front porch and watching for thunderstorms. About this time in the summer do you start thinking about the coming school year? Getting organized, pulling new material from the latest research and integrating it into the upcoming classes can almost be painless if started early.

The feature article this month is an overview of Three Essentials of Course Design (Outcome, Activity and Assessment). I thank Dr. Richard Schilke for a solid review of the book, Online Student Skills and Strategies Handbook by Ganey, Christ & Hurt. Included in this issue are also information about the upcoming Blackboard workshops, a webinar conferences and the monthly Blackboard Tip.
