Tip of the Trade

You may have noticed that with the upgrade to Blackboard 7.1 that the digital drop box has disappeared. BlackBoard has provided an improved method of receiving assignments through the system so the drop box has been eliminated. You will probably notice that some of the new features also save time.

Some of the advantages and features include:

  1. When you create an assignment within the course shell Blackboard automatically enters a column for you in the Gradebook.
  2. You can also access all assignments directly from the shell
  3. You can instantly see via the Gradebook which students have sent in the assignment.
  4. You can add notes for the student and attach them to the original paper
  5. Depending on what grading method you use, students may be able to access their papers and your notes directly from within Blackboard

I have posted a PDF file that explains the steps for creating an assignment within Blackboard on the BlackBoard Resources section of the FaCIT website. You can view it at this link.
